Deeply committed to the musical, intellectual and social growth of our young musicians, we offer an intensive yet positive rehearsal environment in which all students are engaged at a high level and encouraged to excel.
Our focus on exceptional musical training, which features master classes with Brooklyn musicians and mentoring with Brooklyn Phil Artistic Director Alan Pierson, unites young musicians from varied backgrounds into a cohesive artistic unit. Our exceptional staff, led by BPYO Music Director Nicole Federici, works with students at every rehearsal, providing them the mentoring they need to experience significant personal growth through music-making.
AUDITIONS AND PLACEMENT
The Brooklyn Phil Youth Orchestra has a place for all students with any level of experience. String auditions for 2012-2013 are being held on an ongoing basis and can be scheduled by contacting us by phone at 718-488-5700 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Students should be prepared to perform two pieces of music as well as play one scale in any key. The music portion of the audition will be followed by a short interview with parent and student. At least one parent or legal guardian must accompany each student to the initial audition.
The Brooklyn Phil Youth Orchestra (BPYO) rehearses weekly on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons at Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School located in Fort Greene.
The Brooklyn Phil Youth Orchestra standard tuition fee is $500.00 annually (if provided as a one-time payment) or $49.00 monthly per student. The BPYO places a high priority on making sure all interested children can participate in the program. To that end, merit scholarships and financial aid are available for qualified students.
If you have questions regarding merit scholarships or tuition financial assistance, please contact us at 718-488-5700 or email us at email@example.com.
